What happens to the children who receive daily school meals when they go home for the weekend?

Kids who receive meals during the week at school also need to eat on Saturday and Sunday.

Donate today and you can make a meaningful difference by helping us discreetly tuck a weekend’s worth of food into backpacks on Fridays.

Just a few dollars donated feeds one child over a weekend. For your $25 donation, you fund food for one child for a month. With a $100 donation, four children receive food for a month. Just $200 sponsors a student for the whole school year.

We are currently supporting more than 450 children – but our waiting list is even longer.

Baltimore Hunger Project

Meet Joe Cuddy, Vice President, Senior Business Banking Manager for Capital One's Greater DVM Market and our weekly delivery volunteer to Glyndon Elementary. We recently asked Joe why he gives back each week to Baltimore Hunger Project.

"How do you eat an elephant...one bite at a time, of course! Seems simple enough, but think about that for a minute. Sometimes, there isn’t an elephant or a meal to eat.

Twenty-two million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. For many of these students, school meals may be the only meals they eat.
What happens when they go home over the weekend?

I choose to support Baltimore Hunger Project in their efforts because the thought of a child leaving school on a Friday afternoon to wonder where their meals will come from for the weekend is a problem I can help solve for children in my community.

I believe that everyone should take their “one bite” to help solve this elephant-sized problem for children in our communities. I appreciate Lynne B Kahn giving me and Capital One the opportunity to help children throughout the Baltimore area."
