Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT) is a multi-disciplined consulting firm incorporated in 1971 employing over 1,600 professional and support staff in the United States. JMT is headquartered in Hunt Valley, with 40 offices throughout the United States. As part of JMT’s charitable initiative focused on food insecurity, JMT staff in the Hunt Valley office made notes of encouragement for Baltimore Hunger Project and participated in a Shark Week-themed food drive that benefitted the organization.

During the school year, Baltimore Hunger Project volunteers assemble on a weekly basis to pack Ziploc bags with canned tuna or chicken, mac and cheese, milk, applesauce, granola bars, and other snacks. The weekend food packages are delivered by volunteers to 17 area schools. The packages are tucked discreetly into kids’ backpacks on Fridays and a note of encouragement is included in each one. These notes are appreciated by the recipients–kids who range in age from 4-17.

Baltimore Hunger Project is supporting 600 kids but has a waitlist of over 1,200 children. JMT’s Shark Week food drive brought in 91 lbs. of canned tuna and chicken. This donation will help the organization feed kids enrolled in the program. The money saved will contribute to Baltimore Hunger Project’s goal to expand support to children on the waitlist.  JMT would like to thank  Move for Hunger for providing marketing help for the food drive and Easy Movers who provided boxes!

In January, JMT will participate in a 2-hour packing session at Baltimore Hunger Project’s headquarters. This fall, JMT will host another Notes of Encouragement lunchtime session.
