Unite Your Team to Make an Impact

Each week, food is ordered and purchased primarily from the Maryland Food Bank and delivered to our warehouse. Teams of volunteers unload the pallets and count the food items, preparing them for packing. We then rely on the help of corporate and community volunteers to reassemble the food into weekend packages that are delivered directly to Baltimore Hunger Project’s partner schools and discreetly placed in children’s backpacks on Fridays.

By joining us, your team will not only pack food but also play a vital role in ensuring that children in our community can return to school on Monday with full stomachs, ready to learn.

Your group of 15–40 volunteers will spend two hours in our warehouse packing approximately 650 bags of food. These bags will be delivered to schools within the week and discreetly placed into students’ backpacks for the weekend.

BHP coordinates all logistics, ensuring your team can focus on making a difference. If your group is smaller than 15, we’ll work with you to create an experience that keeps your team engaged. Our Volunteer Packing Experience Leaders take pride in making every session meaningful and impactful for both volunteers and the children we serve.

Each packing session creates 650 weekend food packages—an investment of about $6.90 per bag, or roughly $4,500 per session. While participation in packing sessions has no cost, many companies underwrite their session as a way to extend their impact and ensure more children benefit from their efforts.
