Front Desk Volunteer


The Baltimore Hunger Project gives the life-changing gift of food security to children in our community — and volunteers like you are a big part of our story. As a Front Desk Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in providing a welcoming and customer service-oriented experience for visitors and donors. You will assist with various administrative tasks, data entry, housekeeping duties, and logistics support. The role requires a minimum commitment of one 2.5-hour shift per week from September to June.


  • Greet and welcome visitors and donors to Baltimore Hunger Project in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring visitors feel valued and appreciated.
  • Assist with light administrative tasks, such as writing thank-you cards and data entry.
  • Answer guest questions and provide accurate information on Baltimore Hunger Project’s mission, programs, and initiatives.
  • Sort and organize donations, including food items and other supplies.
  • Make notes of encouragement to be included in meal bags.
  • Log in and sort deliveries and walk-in donations, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of common areas, including vacuuming, emptying trash, and breaking down cardboard boxes for recycling or disposal.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to support inventory management and storage of donated items.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while handling items in the warehouse.


  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 35 lbs (the weight of weekend food boxes)
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a minimum of one 2.5-hour shift per week for a 9-month period
