Volunteer Warehouse Worker for BHP


The Baltimore Hunger Project gives the life-changing gift of food security to children in our community — and volunteers like you are a big part of our story. As a Volunteer Warehouse Worker at BHP, you will have the unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the community by fighting hunger and supporting those in need. Your primary responsibilities will include participating in packing sessions, unloading deliveries, and preparing loads for school distributions. This volunteer role will allow you to work alongside a team of dedicated individuals who share the common goal of ensuring efficient and timely handling of food supplies for those facing food insecurity in the greater Baltimore area.

  • Participate in packing sessions to assemble food packages for distribution to schools and community partners.
  • Collaborate with the team to receive and unload deliveries from our partners.
  • Assist in loading food packages and supplies onto delivery vehicles for school distributions.
  • Help maintain accurate records of inventory levels, including incoming and outgoing items.
  • Assist with stock rotation to ensure the timely use of food items.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while handling food and operating warehouse equipment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized workspace to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Collaborate effectively with the warehouse team and other BHP volunteers and staff to accomplish common goals.


  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads, up to 35 pounds, and stand for extended periods.
  • Willingness to follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
